Expand your mosaic skills into the third dimension! You will be provided with a Styrofoam Heart and base, and shown how to add a metal tube for display with a metal rod. On the first day, you reinforce the Styrofoam Heart and Base with thinset, fiberglass mesh, and cloth, and start the design process on the Heart. We will cover the design and mosaic construction, and will focus on tools and techniques for working on small structural forms. We will demonstrate how to carve the heart from scratch using the pink Styrofoam insulation board. Some stained glass and fused glass elements will be provided to cover the Heart. Please bring small personal trinkets to incorporate into the Heart. On the second day, you will transfer the design onto the reinforced heart and start the mosaic process. Complete the mosaic process and grout the Heart & Base on your own. Please BRING Wheeled Nippers to class!
